Confrérie des 650

The Confrérie des 650 –or 650 Fellowship- was founded in 1995 to advocate a practice of cycle touring which involves search for autonomy and economy, joy of meeting people and discovering the planet. The Confrérie musters today more than a thousand bicycle tourists who made the choice of the 650 B-equipped touring bicycle for extensive rides along asphalted roads as well as gravel roads.

With the aim of facilitating everyone’s access to the world of cycle touring, the Confrérie has developed successive generations of a classical handmade, yet financially affordable touring bicycle called Evolution. At the present time, together with manufacturer Stéphane HORSEAU we are proud to offer Evolution 3, which synthesises the return on experience gained from the hundred and fifty machines previously built and extensively used.

In response to the demand from numerous enthusiasts looking for continued and reliable supply of a 650 B tyre tailored to fast touring, we worked together with Michelin on the specifications of such envelope, which initially resulted in the “Axial raid” and now in the “Megamium” 32-584.

The Confrérie’s fierce combat to perpetuate such specific gear finds its sole justification in the ambition to develop, based on the long standing cycle touring tradition, a practice, a way of life, a philosophy and a genuine culture in the broadest sense. Our ultimate goal, beyond purely technical considerations which would make our action rather narrow-minded, remains the promotion of everyone’s accomplishment through a practice of leisure cycling, within the limits of his/her own possibilities but with a desire to contribute to a veritable human progress.
